Dance Dance Revolution is still a solid party game, but the lack of song variety will not appeal to a wide audience.

In 2007, Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party was the very first official Dance Dance Revolution game to be released for the Wii. Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party was a step up for the franchise, but sadly the latest Dance Dance Revolution games have went downhill such as this particular game I'm about to review.

Presentation - The four main game modes that are available in Dance Dance Revolution (Hottest Party 4 in Europe) are dance, workout, training, DDR School, and balance board mode. There are several main ways to play Dance Dance Revolution. The classic mode is how you normally play Dance Dance Revolution. In choreographic mode, you can use the nun chuck and the Wii remote to dance along while using the dance pad. Finally, hand marker mode is where you can use Wii remote shaking punch markers to the right and the nunchuck for the left. The game styles that Dance Dance Revolution offers are single, multi, friendship, sync, family, and balance board modes. Although there is no separate career mode like there was in Hottest Parties 1-3, you earn points in a Challenge Task while playing single player mode. As time goes on, you unlock extra songs and outfits for the dancers/Mii avatar. The more objectives you complete, the more points you earn after each song you play.

Graphics - There's not much to say about the graphics. They are pretty much the same as the previous DDR titles for the Wii. The backgrounds are bright, colorful, and they blend well with the other textures.

Sound - The track list has got to be very disappointing because the majority of the songs are techno, pop, and oldies songs. However, there are several hit tracks to listen to such as Plastic Beach by Gorillaz, So Fine by Sean Paul, and Bad Romance by Lady Gaga. There are some oldies songs I like such as Everything but the Girl by Missing, Venus, We are Family, Celebration, Love Shack, and Dancing in the Street. The majority of the other songs just sound unappealing to me, and it only has a very few good Japanese tracks. Overall, the song list was lacking in variety and isn't as well varied as it was in the previous Hottest Party Titles.

Game play- The core game play is almost as solid as it was as the previous Hottest Party titles, but the expert modes are a tad easier than usual. You can still have the option to use a Gamecube controller if you don't feel like using the Wii remote/nunchuck/balance board to play.

Lasting appeal - The multiplayer modes can be fun for a short while, but the lack of online play still slightly hinders this title.

The good - variety of multiplayer modes, different ways to play Dance Dance Revolution

The bad - not enough variety of songs especially smash hits, no online play, expert mode is slightly too easy
