I've never played a DDR game before this. This game is definitely fun and the multiplayer mode is the most enjoyable part; single player gets old fast.
In Single Player mode, the game allows you to learn complicated and basic moves in the lessons, practice dance moves to songs, and compete against several career mode characters.
You'll be happy to know that the songs the game opens with are not the only ones you get. During career mode, you can unlock new songs and video backgrounds.
Head - Head multiplayer has some pretty fun modes and one heck of a workout. The "Party Mode" has several underlying modes such as:
Attack Mode: fairly simple mode; get several arrows in a row during a song to attack your opponent or to recover from attack.
Bomb Mode: another easy to master mode; don't mess up and you won't blow up.
Sync Mode: this mode is a little harder then the others, and can only be played with 2-4 players. The difficulty comes from the inability to mess up the dance steps, if you do: game over.
Triple Mode: this is one of the modes for the extremely talented people. 1 player plays on 3 dance mats.
Quad Mode: This a the same as Triple mode, only with one more mat.
Point Battle:2 Player head-head where both players compete to keep their points. By messing up, you lose your points.
Score battle: 2-4 players compete for the highest score.
Speed Mode: 2-4 players compete to finish a song first. By messing up, you slow down your song.
Power Mode: 2-4 players mode where players dance to several extended versions of DDR songs to test their endurance.
Relay Mode: up to 4 player turn taking game.
The multiplayer is the real highlight of the game, and although there are a few single player modes too, it's just not as great.
The single player mode has a workout mode, challenge mode and Quest Modes, and also offers a jukebox section to listen to songs without dancing to them. Unfortunately, even though the game is great, and songs can be unlocked, the song list is pretty short.
Overall, DDR is a good game, is every level friendly. It's fun at parties and is one of Konami's good games.
