somewhat reasonable

I really have mixed feelings about this game. it's ok for an occasional play but not really a game I would play a lot. It could have been much better if they included a few things.
The physics are over-rated and i'm surprised about what most fan reviewers said. The cars just feel floaty and arcadish. you don't really find yourself constanly adjusting like you do while drifting. it's easy to maintain a drift with power over techniques. You'll never find yourself over correcting and ending up the wrong way like a real sim, which this was supposed to be.
The only thing difficult in this game is the CPU. It's almost just drifts every corner really fast and faints like a pro. you basically have to play the game a lot.
to add to the difficulty, the control layout is uncustomizable if you are playing with a DFP wheel. i usually like to switch so i can e-brake easily to create more angle in most sims. the problem here is that i rely totally on feint, braking, and power over to try to maintain a drift.
The other big complaint is the lack of a solo scoring run. to see how many points you get, you have to play the computer, other wise it's just time attack. I thought this was a drifting game.
The didn't include the official D1 theme, atleast in the american version, which is lame. I don't know about the japanese version. The japanese commentators are also hillarious if you watch D1GP, but the american ones in this game just suck.
The mandatory tutorial is also lame, and not needed. It seems like Yukes forgot all about the fact that there are drift enthusiasts oversees which they should try to appeal to, instead of just going after the ones that aren't to make thigns successful.
If you want a great drift game, get tokyo xtreme racer drift 2. If you are more interested in D1GP in general and want circuits instead of touge, get this game.
