OVERVIEW

Cyborg Justice is a very repetitive beat-em-up game. But that doesn't mean that this game is not good. In fact, Cyborg Justice is a great game that really grows on you every time you play. The story behind the game is this: a space-traveler is crashes their spaceship on a distant planet. When the space-traveler dies their brain is put into a cyborg body so that they can be put to endless work. What they failed to realize is that the space-traveler still has control of their mind and now is trying to escape. In order to do that the cyborg space-traveler needs to fight its way to freedom.

GAMEPLAY

Right from the start of the game you get to customize your cyborg. You get to choose a head/body, weapon arm, and legs. Each of the three components will give your character unique abilities and attributes. There is a good selection of weapons to pick from. Weapons like a buzz saw or flamethrower. Now most beat-em-up games, for Sega, only have 2 or 3 attacks that your character can perform but in this game you have dozens of unique attacks that you can use to punish the other cyborg enemies. For instance if you don't like the weapon that is attached to your arm, just find a better one and rip that cyborg's arm right out of it's socket and replace your old arm with that one! Also if you are low on health just rip off the enemies torso to recharge your health with theirs. Not only is tearing off components advantageous but loads of fun.

Each level consists of you going through and fighting two enemies at a time until you reach the end where a boss is waiting for you. The disappointing thing about the boss is that it is a regular cyborg just like all the other enemies you fought previously. The only difference is that this cyborg has a laser gun arm and fights a little tougher. Aside from that another great feature about Cyborg Justice is the option for two players to play at the same time. Playing with 2 players is even more fun because now you have a team working together to create Cyborg mayhem. Plus, in 2 player mode you can resurrect your fallen comrade by rebuilding their broken pieces.

GRAPHICS & SOUND

The graphics for the cyborgs are very good with nice detail and color. Unfortunately, the background graphics are very plain which is probably why the cyborgs stand out so much. Most of the backgrounds for each level are all one color too.

What Cyborg Justice lacks in graphics, definitely makes up for in sound. Each weapon and attacks have great sound effects and the sound of a robot getting destroyed is priceless.

CONCLUSION

Cyborg Justice is a great beat-em-up game with replay value. Like I said before even though it is a very repetitive game there is still plenty of fun to be had in this game. Cost of a Sega Genesis, $200. Having fun ripping off limbs of robots and causing mass destruction with Cyborgs, Priceless.
