Just draw dropping beautiful game. Imagining that each asset in this game was hand drawn on paper brings across how much the developers truly wanted to give that unique 1930's animation feel. And it shows. The bosses are truly fun just to watch. The crazy cast of characters you battle is truly unique and well thought out. The games soundtrack is excellent as well. You can see the developers love not only for 1930's animation but a collection of old platform games like Contra, Mega Man and Gunstar. But, this game is not for the simple casual gamer. It is not easy. Even if you choose the easier mode (called Simple) it still can be quire difficult mode for most to master and you don't get a soul point for boss battles. The game is fast and you die fast and often (I mean often). Did I mention you die a lot. But, game levels reload quickly after you die, almost too quickly (it there is such a thing) as you are thrown back into another quick onslaught. I personally might be dying more than I normally would in other difficult games because I am so enamored the stylish animation work that this game presents. It will take the average gamer quite a while to beat bosses. Even the best platform gamer probably can expect to die 40+ times before they master (or luckily beat) a boss the first time. And if you get frustrated easily maybe you should play this in a bouncy house so when it is time to chuck the controller across the room it will survive your wrath.

The 6 run and gun platform levels are nice break from the 18 boss battles. You can play one on-one in the battles or two-on-one with co-play.

Negatives: it is not for the weak of heart gamer. You made need to replace you controller from frustratingly throwing it across the room to its doom. Simple is not simple enough for casual gamers to enjoy this game (e.g. my fiancé). It would be nice if there were some status of the current boss battle. These are minor annoyances that I would not have been an issue if we haven't become so accustomed to much easier platform games we have today. My old 1990's gamer would laugh at me for whining about such issues. "Tough, son you don't know tough. Back my day we played games like this with both hands tied behind our back in the snow."

Positives: animation, music, fun, just fun. fast loading, great variety of battles, battles are fun and overwhelming but never so much as to feel cheated. It is only $20 and Play Anywhere game
