An overall good game, but not one that we will be playing a year from now.

Crysis 2 has had alot of hype since it was announced to hit PC and consoles for the first time. And alot of people have had their hopes up and have been patiently awaiting its release. But sadly, alot will be disappointed with the final product. Ok there is no doubt about it, the game looks absolutely amazing. The ravaged and destroyed New York city where the game takes place is stunning to look at. But the graphics are not the problem. Yeah sure, u are gonna be in awe as u watch buildings and skysrapers come crashing down and cars exploding. It has the looks. But it fails in other areas. The story is one of those areas. You play Alcatraz, a poor Marine who in the beginning of the game gets blown out of a helicopter and killed by unknown alien forces. Luckily for Alcatraz, some guy (who later becomes known as Prophet) hands down the almighty and powerful Nanosuit to him and life is brought back to him by the suit. Now enforced with amazing powers and new ablities, Alcatraz now unwillingly must finish Prophets mission and try to stop the alien takeover. And so begins the journey. The story starts off really slow and as the game goes on, it gets better but it takes a WHILE for it to get interesting and this really takes the fun out of this beautiful environment. The A.I is another problem. You face both humans and aliens throughout your journey and I noticed on mulitple occasions enemies just standing there not firing back, enemies running in circles, and alien A.I not shooting at their human enemies. Its not a huge bug, but it happened so often that I had to mention it. The controls are on key but different than ur average FPS. I found myself dropping weapons or exchanging weapons for something I didn't want when trying to simply switch from my pistol to my machinegun. There are plenty of guns, ranging from .45 caliber pistols, to shotguns, sniper rifles, bazookas, C4s and also modifications such as silencers and more. You also have access to new abilitles for your suit that u can unlock by killing aliens such as the ability to walk more quietly and more. The suit gives u many different advantages in battle. U can become temporarily invisible and increase the amount of damage u can take by going in Armor Mode. There are plenty of goodies and hidden items scattered throughout the city that the game urges you to find. The game is quite lengthy so that is another plus. Crysis 2 is not a complete failure, it has good gameplay mechanics and it has its moments where it will leave u in awe and draw u into the combat and the catastrophy going on around you. But it did fail to reach the heights that everyone had hoped it would. I advise everyone to rent it first.
