When I first found out that there was going to be a Final Fantasy VII prequel, I was both excited and weary at the same time. Excited because of all the possibilities to fill in those gaping questions left behind by it's predecessor.

However, when I found that it was to be a PSP title, I became even more skeptic. What of the PSP's limited Graphical Capabilities? What about limitations in UMD Storage space for the various Movie cut-scenes, Musical Scores, and hordes of diverse monsters? If anything at all, what of the problematic battery life of the PSP? How would that effect that ability to save in a timely manor?...

All my worries about these questions were laid to rest with no trouble. As for the Limited Graphical Capabilities of the PSP? Amazingly done, I have never seen such beautiful work on this tiny system, and doubt that such quality work will be seen again for quite some time. The Limitations of storage space on the UMD disk? Pushed to it's limit, and still containing MANY gorgeous movies, scores of amazing music that was all very well suited for the game, and a grand cast of monsters, both the old ones we know and love from the FF series, and some new ones that I hope to see continued in later games. The PSP's problematic battery life was put to rest easily with a plentiful array of save points spread thought the games areas, all easy to access, and all giving ample opportunities to save your progress.

The story is filled with every amazing aspect that you could hope to find from the prequel to one of (if not THE) most popular final fantasy titles. For any of those who remember FF VII very well, you will truly appreciate all of the little things thrown into the game that fill in even the smallest of gaps, everything from the starting portions of the game, right down to it's very last scene holds all sorts of amazing plot fillers to make you appreciate this series more and more.

The only small detail about this game that set me aside was the level system, which is oddly done. Instead of gaining experience from battles, you Gradually gain levels at a seemingly random pace through the games battles. However, leveling up in advance of the story line can be done with ease through the games MANY optional missions that you can complete, all ranging from being very easy for any level of player, and some being near impossible at certain stages of the game for any player.

All in all, this game is certain to become an instant classic, as it is already a masterpiece of it's own rite. Now all that is left is to await the remake of Final Fantasy VII to see what happens with the story.
