Torchlight with coop but without the rpg elements

User Rating: 6.5 | Crimson Alliance X360
Dont be delusional about a free XBLA title, It isnt free. Its new interesting flexible pricing method with a 2 pricing system in order for you to play. This system has been quite accepted in the MMORPG industry, in consoles however, its still new.

The scheme, works by paying 800msp to play as 1 class instead paying 1200msp for all 3 classes. You will still enjoy a full game but only playing as 1 class at a cheaper price. 3 classes with different items and equipment as well as a slightly different skills to be used.

At first glance, this looks like a good quality actionrpg with coop function. It is not, is a action game with 3 classes that all have slightly different abilities.

THE GOOD:
1. it have a good coop experience, The game is designed to play this way.
2. Rather balance between 3 classes after a few patches.
3. Loots and weapons integrate will into the gameplay mechanics
4. some puzzle solving

THE BAD:
1. Short, and easy 4hrs with coop
2. Barely any rpg elements at all (not even a lvl up, all you need is money)
3. Oddward team of 3 classes for a 4 player coop, clearly needs more heroes for 800/1200msp
4. Gameplay can be a bit repetitive, dull combat and a bit grinding (althought you could exchange real money with ingame money for 80msp for 40000gold - now this is an MMO scheme)

Conclusion, Crimson alliance is good average game, did nothing new but it gave some hours of entertainment if your playing with friends. The developers are rather clear what they wanted the game to be like and its an arcade action-hack n slashgame. If you want to play coop actionrpg with friends or even a split screen coop for a good 4 hrs of fun, not investing a lot of effort into it, This is the game for you.

If you wanted to make a choice of the same genre for XBLA rpgs, Torchlight. For coop, CA is better choice than DnD:daggerdale.
