A cross between Guild Wars & Saints Row. This MMO-FPS blend has potential, but with plenty of flaws right now.

User Rating: 6 | CrimeCraft PC
Anyone who ran into this game thought the cross between FPS'ing and MMO would work, especially those who are familiar with Saints Row & other related FPS games. While Crime Craft is no CounterStrike or any other Half-Life mod, it does have some potential, if THQ can work out the chinks in the gameplay to make it more appealing to thousands of gamers.

Anyone familiar with Guild Wars would note the various instances, complete with a variety of PvP & PvE game modes. PvE game modes puts you in places to kill bots, to either defend a particular object, or to find and retrieve crates. PvP game modes are typical Multiplayer FPS stuff, from Team DM-like Riot, to CTF-like Snatch-N-Grab, to the seemingly popular Robbery. There are plenty of weapons to choose from--assault rifles, shotguns, SMG's, and pistols, and you can choose between Sniper Rifle, Grenade Launcher, Rockets, and LMG's at around lvl 8 of 50. There are a host of other skills to choose from, so that is where the customization begins, and you can reroll the skill pts. at a fairly low price. In addition, there are the options to choose one of four crafting skills--Gunsmithing, Tailoring, Engineering, and Chemistry. The materials are hard to come by, but super rare & unique items fetch high prices on the player market.

The community has room for improvement, though, as there are no chat-filtering options available at the time of this review. It can also be hard to master, especially when other players are busy swearing at one another after a PvP game, or talking certain forms of nonsense. As of the time of this review, the player population is very low, with only 300 or so players on the lone server early on, and it has been hovering between 70 and 200 players. Moreso, there are no tiered instances at this time, so it can be very hard for players with low-lvl characters to "compete" with higher-level ones, or even those with "elite" FPS skills. It is reasonably low at this time, with a subscription required, and more money needed to dish out to buy gold bars, which can be used to buy certain clothes or other things. So there is room for THQ to work on to improve the player base, especially since Vogster has shut down.

Crime Craft has some promising gameplay in its arsenal, but its flaws and the lack of a player base keeps it down in the ratings and player appeal. Hopefully, with some work, it'll draw in more players. Otherwise, don't expect this to stay live past November.
