Finally, a cricket game worth spending money on!

User Rating: 8 | Ashes Cricket 2009 PS3
I have been a cricket fan for a long time and have purchased almost every cricket game that has come out. But this is one game that has finally impressed me.

Usually cricket games are made sloppy as developers know that they are reaching out to a small market and hence they do not spend a lot of money or time trying to fix all the issues in the game. However, Ashes is one game that does not fall in this category. The game has really minor bugs and is overall well worth playing. The AI is seriously good this time unlike the other Codemaster games where you could score 600 runs in a one day match on the toughest difficulty level.

The commentary is not that great even now but is definitely better than the previous games as they have got in Shane Warne and a few other new commentators. The fielding is a big change and is much more realistic as you now have to time your catch.

However, there are a few bugs in this game, For example, you can get the opponent run out easily as they always try to take an extra run when the ball is hit in the deep and then they try to cancel that run midway.

All teams except Australia and England are not licensed but the game modes are updated. Now we have T20 matches and the option to play with the pink ball during the T20 games. Graphics are an improvement and help in making the game more realistic.

I have been a bit lenient when giving this game a score of 8 because this is a really good effort made by Transmission Games and Codemasters and they deserve kudos for spending this much time in a cricket game.
