User Rating: 7.5 | Ashes Cricket 2009 PS3
When I first heard about this game, I was excited - finally, a cricket game on PS3. I counted up my money and jumped onto gamespot to read some reviews. What I saw discouraged me... the gamespot review was a good one but the one reader review (which I usually use to really judge the game) that I read was quite negative. Nevertheless, I marched on down to Blockbuster, handed over the money and bought the game. That is where the fun started..

I turned on the game and was met by a lengthy loading time but it was worth it. I decided to start an Ashes series and picked my Australia team from an accurate Australia squad.I then started to play the game. The toss was realistic and was very easy on the eye. The actual gameplay then started.

The graphics are fantastic on the players. No matter what any review says, the graphics were as good as you could hope, the fans need a bit of work but are as good as you can really expect, the fielders and umpires followed suite.

The gameplay is a lot of fun and, though you need to get the hang of the new bowling controls (and, trust me, it is really realistic once you master it) and, indeed, the timing of the batting, the whole thing is extremely realistic. There are thousands of shots to play and the CPU is very well-balanced.

The downside is that, apart from the Australia and England players, there are no licenses and therefore the names are, for want of better word, bloody retarded. 'Gabbs'? That's a hairdresser's name, not the world's best opener. That said, the lack of real names for the rest of the world, kind of give the Australian and English players a sort of prestige.

Waiting for playing online gameplay because I haven't get connected my ps3 with dsl.

I can only hope that anyone else who reviews this title is a fan of cricket and not a lifeless drone who reviews everything on the website because it may be sloppy compared the other games but it is made for fans of cricket, not video game analysts.
