Crash of the Titans offers more gameplay than any other Crash game before it, and, it looks very good too.

User Rating: 9 | Crash of the Titans PS2
The Good:
-Superb presentation, artistically and technically
-Loads of cool monsters to take control of and use in combat
-Levels look great
-Cutscenes are hilariously funny and involve all of Crash's friends and enemies
-Very short loading times

The Bad:
-The co-op multiplayer would have been better as a split-screen mode

Crash of the Titans was a game I rented, then my brother bought because he liked it so much. The game, as most other Crash Games, lets you play as Crash. It is however, the only Crash game on the PS2 , other than Mind Over mutant, that lets you play ONLY as Crash. This is a different thing about the other Crash games, but I usually played as Crash anyway, so it dosen't change alot. Titans is not the best Crash game to come out on the PS2, but it is definitely a game that is 100% worth playing. Crash has a whole load of abilities, he can run, jump, do a belly bounce, glide over long trenches, and more, including his new ability, to control monsters. This is where the story comes in. Cortex, along witht he help of Nina, has turned all the cute little animals of Wumpa Island into these huge, rock-solid, evil mutants. Crash, with Aku-Aku's guideance, has figured out a way to jack these mutants, and, now, he can control all their powers. You will venture to many places around Wumpa Island, and on Cortex's control ship, and find loads of different mutants to play around with.

There are a whole battalion of monsters to control. These "Mutants" come into three categories- Projectile, who can aim and shoot guided missiles or stink bombs, Normal, who are mutants who each have their own special powers, freeze, lava, things like that, and Leader, who are the really huge mutants that come very rarely, and are the strongest, and funnest, mutants to use. These "Leader" Mutants are few and far between, and there are only 5 in the whole game- Shelephant and Scorporilla, are reocurring in the game and will be used in most boss battles, while Aku-Aku and Nina can be controlled once in the game(Fun!), while Yuktopus only appears once aswell. Other mutants include Rhinoroller, who can roll down hills, Stench, who can fart on people(he's a skunk), Spike, who can shoot spikes, and Magmadon and Ratcicle, who each can either burn or freeze people. You'll meet alot of Melee enemies, like these little cheerleaders(called Bratgirls), who work for nina, and the Doom Monkeys, NGin's servants. In Mid-Game, Crash learns the ability to skateboard, so he can board any where in the level, preferably down lonh hills. Sometimes this ability is optional, while sometimes it is needed. Also, part-way through the game, Nina takes over, along with Aku Aku, and they capture Cortex. Oh, did I mention, Crunch and Coco are captured the whole time!Yeah, you can only be Crash. That's a kind of bummer, but it's also a lie. With all these awesome mutants to use, you'll be having a blast with Crash of the Titans.

Personally, my favourite mutant is the Scorporilla, a huge, chunky Gorrilla thing that has huge arms and legs, and can crush any enemy easily.

During the game, you will find various hidden places where you can acess various mini-games, which only give you mojo, which is Crash's lifeblood, and upgrades his health and attacks, so, the more blue or pink(pink is worth more) mojo he colects, the better off he'll be. In the minigames, he'll either have to kill a certain amount of enemies, or collect a certain amount of green mojo, before time runs out. In some you'll have to jack a leader mutant.

In the level select screen, you can view info on all the mutants you've jacked, and Aku-Aku will tell you all you need to know about them, and it is humorous. The cutscenes are also humorous, especially the ones with N-GIN.

In Crash of the Titans, you'll visit loads of places from Wumpa Island, the beach, the place near Crash's home, Cortex's airship(well- it's Nina's now), a lava-filled swamp, an ice palace and more. The areas look extremely good, and are a great addition to the already great series.

Technically and Artistically, Crash of the Titans is great. The characters look slightly different, and Coco looks like a donkey's backside, but that is the only graphical problem about this game. The game takes the shortest loading and saving times of all the Crash Games, and that is very good.

The fact that the Crash series is now action-based is a good one, even though most of the platforming is gone, Crash has still a long way to go before it fails.

The co-op mode in Crash of the Titans isn't the best, but it works, and can be useful in a tight situation in which there is a lot of enemies, but, I personally think that it would have done better as a split-screen, like Ratchet: Deadlocked, but it still flows smoothly with the gameplay.

Overall, Crash of the Titans is a blast to play, but i isn't the best co-op game out there. It has great graphics, artistically and Technically, and will do a good job in any platformer-action gamer's collection, especially if you're into the whole Crash Bandicoot thing. It suffers from a small identity crisis, but that is not an extremely bad thing.

Overall, 9/10
