It's time for the Crash of the Titans review! For the Wii!

I haven't played a Crash game in years! The last one I played was Crash Bandicoot for the PS1, and, well, it was only a demo of it in a store. I think it was Toys R' Us…but anyway, I do remember somewhat of what that game was like, and I do remember that I had fun with it. So let's see how this Crash game turned out.

The story is about how Dr. Cortex has come to Crash's Island in a huge blimp machine thing, and has kidnapped his sister, and now Crash is off to save her.

This is a standard platformer that's heavily focused on combat. I'll show you what I mean in a second. The goal of each level is just to reach the end without dying…duh…Crash can double-jump, attack enemies, spin-float down to other platforms, and the most noticeable thing, "jack" titans to do your will! Titans are large mutant animals who specialize in kicking the crap out of other enemies and titans. To take control of a titan, you have to successfully attack it X amount of times before it becomes stunned, then you can jump on top of it, put a special mask on its face, and then really start to have fun!

You can control the titan for as long as you want, or until its health is depleted, or until you can't go any further in the level with it. As well as basic strong attacks, each titan has two special attacks that can't be blocked by enemies. The catch is that it can sometimes leave you wide open to attacks because some of them take a while to perform.

In my opinion, the first levels of the game are just too easy. But the later levels do become pretty hard, and at some points, excruciatingly difficult, and this is why: The mask you jack the titans with also acts as you shield. However, it can only defend against minor attacks, and there are some points in the game where the titans are just relentless, and your shield does squat! Very aggravating and frustrating to say the least!

Throughout the levels, you can collect little spheres called mojo. When you collect enough, you'll either gain a new attack, or one of Crash's stats will go up, like Health or Spin Attack. You can view Crash's stats at the intermission between each level.

As you go through each episode, you can complete sub-missions such as getting high combos, or destroying all three spybots in the level. When you reach the end of the stage, you'll be awarded for however many sub-missions you completed.

The graphics are great! Nothing looks bland, as there is a good amount of detail and color in each level.

The controls of the Wiimote/Nunchuck combo are spot-on! You'll mainly use the control stick and buttons to get through the game, however, you will have to use the motion sensors to perform Crash's Spin Attack and some of the special attacks for the titans, but it's not a problem, as all of the controls worked just fine!

As I was playing through the later levels, I noticed that there was something wrong about the game that I just couldn't put my finger on. And then it dawned on me! Basically all of the levels in the game are the same! Ok, that's not fair, they're not the same, but the design and elements of the later levels have a similar taste to the earlier levels, meaning that I got kind of bored progressing through the near-end of the game. Also, it wasn't just the design and elements of the level, it was also that controlling titans became a bit monotonous. Don't get me wrong, the levels and controlling titans are fun, but the game just doesn't have the same appeal near the end as it did in the beginning.

There were only a few boss fights, but they were pretty challenging nonetheless.

Remember how I said some parts of the level can become really difficult? Well there is an option where a friend can join in and play co-op with you, which makes playing this game more fun, and it also makes it A LOT easier to get through the levels! I just wish I had known about that sooner! I found out about it AFTER I had completed the game!

The voice acting is great! Some of the cut-scenes in this game are really funny! Too bad there are just a few of them, because my siblings and I really enjoyed them!

Crash of the Titans is a pretty fun game! Great graphics, great controls, co-op mode is cool, great voice acting, and being able to posses titans is fun!
But the big downsides were one, I felt that the game just became a little too dull near the end, some parts of the level were painfully hard, without someone playing with you, and the game is a little too short. I beat it in about 6 hours, 45 minutes, which, yeah, it's too short.

But overall, it's not a bad game. I seriously have no idea why people don't like this game, let alone hate it! Sure, it's probably nothing more than a decent weekend rental, but it's not terrible! I had a good time playing it!

This game gets a 3.75/5 with the title of Awesome!
