This is the 1st Crash Bandicoot game not developed by Naughty Dog. Crash Bash was developed by SCEA and Eurocom. Unlike the first 3 games this is a party game, not an action game. There are over 25 minigames and most of them are immersive.

The Adventure mode is an interesting way to play. This is a succession of levels which after you collect certain item you challenge a boss and move to the next warp room. In the adventure mode the items you can collect are trophies, crystals, gems and relics. In the adventure you can choose any of the 8 characters. Every character is great in a type of minigames and which is bad. For example, Crash and Coco aren't so good and fighting, but Tiny and Kong are. This mode can also be played in multiplayer. It's fun and has its advantages. At late stages and when collecting relics, enemies all mostly attack you. If played with a friend he or she can help you. But if you ask me multiplayer is tougher. Single player I got 197% and multiplayer I got 178%. Since most levels are extremely challenging. This is basically the most interesting mode. The other 2 modes are battle mode, which you choose a minigame and fight, and the tournament mode which takes a group of minigames and compete. The only bad thing is that you can't choose the minigames you want. Another thing is that it's always Fatal-4-way. You can't choose your opponents also. The game chooses them randomly. Characters are 4 good and 4 evil. Good characters you might remember are Crash, Coco, Tiny and Dingodile. Evil characters you will surely expect Cortex, Brio, Come and a brand new character. 2 of each character have almost the same abilities and strengths. Once a character wins a match, that particular character does his/her signature laugh. Cortex has the evil laugh.

Just because it's not Naughty Dog doesn't mean that this game is bad. Graphics are still pretty colorful and attractive. Background music isn't half bad. Still the game feels short and rather limited. Since only 8 characters and about 25 levels, which 8 levels have to be unlocked from the adventure mode. To get a new minigame from the adventure mode you simply have to win the trophy and the minigame will be available to play.

The English version has one character missing from the Japanese version, but after seeing a specific video of the JP version of the game i'm glad that the english version is this way. The characters when choosing in the JP version look awful and the menu music was horrific. Still a missing character means.

Crash Bash isn't a bad game by any means but the lack of modes holds it back from being better. Still it's a lot of fun and fans of Crash Bandicoot will surely appreciate it. Newcomers might find this game worse than the others but if you want to play with a friend this game is worth it, maybe rental.
