A classic in the platform genre.

User Rating: 8.2 | Crash Bandicoot (Platinum) PS
Crash Bandicoot is the first "real" game from Naughty Dog. It's a platformer and people knew it was classic as soon as it entered the stores.

The story is pretty simple: The villain, named Neo Cortex, kidnaps Crash Bandicoot's girlfriend for his experiments. Crash will have to go to over 30 levels to get her back. As simple as the story is, it's appealing. Though of course, it isn't for the story you play the game. It's just for the wacky levels and fun play.

The moves are also really simple. Crash has a spin turn, a jump and well... That's pretty much it. You gain your health from Wumpa's, things that resemble apples and are scattered around throughout the game. What makes Crash special, is that it's graphics were extraordinary at the time. For a 1996 game, this is beautiful. The 32 levels you play, are decorated with loads of detail. These levels vary from jungles to factories to a long bridge, leading into nothing. It's very original; that's always been Naughty Dog's specialty. You also play through 6 boss levels, which are all different. No boss battle resembles the other.

Crash is a game that does not bore; it's an old-school game with fun environments and quite a challenge to every platform lover. Don't worry about the length of the game; it'll keep you busy for a long time and even after you've finished it once, you'll still want to try again.
