The Crash Bandicoot series is home to some of the finest PS1 platformers of all time, and it shows.

While it may look like a kids game, this Playstation One platformer is extremely difficult in the later levels. Even some of the early levels can be quite difficult if you aren't a seasoned gaming veteran. Even more, each level has 1-2 hidden gems. You can obtain these by going through a level, breaking all the boxes (which can prove to be quite a challenge), and not dying once. If you die, you have to start over again from the beginning. The controls are very simple. There are 2 actions you can perform as Crash. You can jump with X and attack by spinning like a tornado with Square. The controls aren't as tight as they could be, but they are good enough, I guess. Sometimes you will find yourself falling. You will actually find yourself falling a lot, and unfortunately, most of the time it's because of clunky controls. You collect wumpa fruits and smash boxes in the stages. Collecting 100 wumpa fruits gets you an extra life, and destroying all the boxes in one go gets you a gem. Simple, but very well done.

It looks really beautiful. The levels are varied and colourful, and the levels are quite big for a PS1 platformer. The draw distance is also very good for PS1. Long story short, it looks really good for it's time.

Crash has to rescue his girlfriend from Dr. Neo Cortex and his various minions. That's pretty much it.

Crash Bandicoot is very fun. Some would say it's more fun than Mario 64. While it's nowhere near the standard that game set, Crash Bandicoot provides a great challenge and loads of fun. Beating it 100% is truly a gaming achievement. Play this game. Now.
