Too Easy! But at least Crash Bandicoot is still a fun game to play.

After the mediocre mess of Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex for the Gamecube, I thought that they gave up on poor Crash. When I played Crash Bandicoot Purple: Ripto's Rampage, it still captured the fun play mechanics that old Crash games had to offer. What makes this game more unique is that at least 90% of the game is mini-game based. I gotta admit, the mini games were fun to play. There's blasting sheep, riding on the polar bear like the old Playstation games, riding a tank to blast obstacles, and so much more!

Besides the cool mini games, the music and graphics were great. In fact, they were both better than I expected. Each of the five worlds have cool themes and the backgrounds are suprisingly well done. Music to my ears and crystal clear graphics. One major difference between this and any other game is that there is no limit to the amount of lives. It's a shame really, without a life count, this makes this game much more easier. Crash Bandicoot was always a game that was known for "trial and error". If I die the first 10 times, I won't be phased. It is more overwhelming if I had three lives and had to go through a difficult level without losing all of them. I remembered getting Game Over all of the time in the old Playstation games and learned to cope with the challenge. Now, the Wumpa fruits are considered as currency to open up new levels, portals, and to buy trading cards. They are no longer used for collecting 100 to gain one life because lives don't exist anymore. As far as the trading cards go, I only buy them for the amusement of looking at them. They are only good for unlocking new mini games and new characters in multiplayer mode. Don't get me wrong, this is still an excellent game, but it is marred down a notch by its easier difficulty. I would've given it a 9.0 if it were more challenging. It starts to get hard by world 4, which is 80% of the game's completion. The mini games are still great to the point where I could sit down and play them again. Not much length to this game, but its best trait is the fun factor. Bravo Crash! You deserve to have at least 5 more adventure games before you retire.
