Funny and great game with a personal touch.

User Rating: 8.3 | Conker: Live & Reloaded XBOX
Conker Live & Reloaded is a remake of N64 system’s Conker’s Bad Fur Day with an added multiplayer. It’s a great and in some ways unique gaming experience with a lot of bad language and humor. Here I will only review the single player portion of the game, because my experiences with Xbox Live are extremely limited.

Conker’s Bad Fur Day has a cute Nintendo-like setting with bright colors and many different cute animals. But very quickly it becomes apparent that this is not a game for kids. Here in Europe the game has a same rating as Ninja Gaiden and Far Cry Instincts: 16+.

Story begins when hard-partying squirrel Conker drinks a few too many in a bar and awakes in the next morning with a terrible hangover. In the mean time an evil King is in need for a new leg in his royal table and the King’s professor reasons that the best thing as a leg underneath the King’s table would be a squirrel. So with a royal guard on his tail and a girlfriend having fun without him, it’s going to be a Bad Fur Day for Conker.

Graphics are good with bright and rich colors. Environments don’t look very real, but hey: does a giant snoring dung beetle or a crying bumblebee look real? Sound on the other hand resembles most of the time some kind of mute movie from 1920’s, but this doesn’t bother the player at all. Best thing is the voice acting and it really creates about a half of the whole experience. You want to listen what these characters have to say, trust me.

Conker’s gameplay is similar to Mario games in that you control the squirrel from a third person perspective and do a lot of jumping. There are some camera problems, but this luckily won’t happen very often.

Best parts of Conker are sections when the game makes fun of well known movies like The Terminator, Saving Private Ryan or The Matrix. There are some frustrating parts in the course of this game, but they are not so big that it makes you throw away your controller in anger.

Conker Live & Reloaded is a funny and dirty game. It’s absolutely worth playing especially if you haven’t played it back in the days of N64.
