Following the hurrendous diisapointment that was conlict: vietnam, this came has the class that set it on a path above and boyond other shooters in this genre.

Good to see that they kept the little details in this one that actually made vietnam enjoyable, for example characters shouldering their weapons after use as opposed to disapearing into that tardis of a backpack. The game plays really well and the addition of the need for alot more stealth was a great addition. The old games could be played in a more rapid and frantic manner on the lower difficulties if you so wished. Good range of weapons again, combined with some amazing scenery and impressive city battle scapes, bringing back fond memories of dessert storm 1&2, combined with most types of other terrain a battle could possible be fought on.

The AI is impressive and the enemies work together well creating an even more realistic fighting force to hinder your progress. Having more of a tendancy to come at you than in the other titles, and seeking cover well to avoid your fire. All of the standard commands are there keeping the same control format basically as in the previous titles making team control a doddle. The one anoyance however is that now when your soldiers are on open fire or "go load" as I believe it was your team no longer hold their stance and will quite happily drop their weapon to a casual stance creating a delay which is not welcome when you are engaged by the enemy.

The mission format is still good keeping long challenging missions without annoying checkpoints, which other shooters seem to be rammed to the rafters with. This can make restarts challenging to face at times but never too much so. The game would become to easy if you can save all the time, as I have never used in game saves on the other titles and to be honest had no idea you could. This does give more reflection of the tasks of a special forces or SAS squad and the hardships they go through and the way they have shown themselves to be elite units achieving such impossible objectives.

Cut scenes have never really been out of this world, but they dont have to be. They fill you in and then drop you back where you want to be, in the thick of it. Brilliant game with a rather immersive range of mssions and gameplay, keeping you on your toes and dredging your mind for new stratagies to acieve your goal. Keep it up. Hours playing jus a guess as will be completing game on all difficulty levels as with predecessors, so still going strong.
