We're going to have to act, if we want to live in a different world.

1995 was only the beginning years for PC gaming, and classics like the iconic FPS shooter Doom had made its way into the PC gaming market with dramatic success. Doom was fun and challenging, thanks to its easy control interface but extremely difficult monsters especially at higher skill levels.

But that was only until the grand-daddy of all RTS games entered the world stage of the video gaming universe.

That's right. Command and Conquer has arrived, and it's going to take command of you and conquer all your enemies with your iron fist of rule.

Story:

Basically, take NATO (GDI) and the Warsaw Pact with some crazy religion stuff thrown in (Brotherhood of Nod), and throw them onto a battlefield while wearing "LONG LIVE KANE!! DOWN WITH GDI!" T-shirts for the Noddies and "A free world at any cost!" for the gold-uniformed NATO forces. There you go.

Nah, I'm kidding. Basically Nod is a terrorist organization and begins attacking the world population through terrorist means, and GDI steps in to stop this.

An all-out war ensues as the enigmatic Tiberium substance creeps across the globe.

Gameplay:

Pretty easy to get down to, for a new beginner. Once you know how to click the mouse, you're good to go. Seriously. It doesn't get easier than that.

Knowing what's good against what is essential for winning. Basically, send tank against tank, but don't send tank against anti-tank infantry. A good example to prove that it's required to know what the appropriate counter is the flame tank. It can cook your hapless infantry in seconds so steer clear of that and send your tank divisons against it.

Base building can be quite tedious, since you can only have one build queue. Take it easy, and don't worry about too much. Oncee you get your base building tactics down, you're good to go as you'll find means to expand your base.

Music:
"We're going to have to act, if we want to live in a different world."
"NO! NO! NO! NO MERCY!"
"I'M A MECHANICAL MAN!"

The music is AWESOME, even for an old game dating back to the 16-bit days. Composed industrial music with melodramatic tunes doesn't get better than in this little RTS game!

Rent or Buy:
As an honest gamer, BUY! This game is THE game that revolutionized the RTS genre. No one should miss out on this great game even if it is old!

See you on the battlefield.
