So close to being a great game but a few good ideas fell flat on their faces and brought down the whole experience.

In short, this game is enjoyable and could have been a great game- not game of the year by any means- but a game I'd recommend. As it is, Jericho has interesting story thanks to Clive Barker, fairly fun gunplay, and good graphics to highlight the interesting settings.

The problem, however, outweigh those fun aspects. Your team is constantly dying courtesy of the sme ambush as before from the same enemies that explode and the same gunners that take an inordinate amount of ammunition to take down. You'll feel more like the ill-equipped medic than a strong witch-warrior. The powers can be fun to use but nothing really stands out as an amazing ability you can't wait to try again in battle. Instead, they seem like random set pieces when you come across a puzzle (which can hardly be called a puzzle because your squadmates scream out the solutions as soon as you round the corner) midway through a level. Speaking of levels, they are very linear and allow no exploration and there are no items or bonuses to be found.

I started the game really wanting to enjoy it. And for the first 60-90 minutes I did enjoy it. That's because everything was fresh to me and the intro to the story is actually really neat and made me want to play. Unfortunately, that excitement died and unlike the squad in Jericho it stayed dead. Nothing in the game revived that excitement.

It's a rent or buy from Gamespot and beat it in 3 days and return for full refund kind of game. I will likely pick it up again and finish it, but as it stands I'll leave my progress at 75%...
