Super Mario Bros. is a great old school platformer to have on the go.

User Rating: 7.6 | Famicom Mini: Super Mario Bros. GBA
The original Super Mario Bros. brought the gaming industry back from the dead. It was also a very compelling, original, and innovative platformer at the time of its released and set the standards for all 2D platformers. The game is back on the GBA in the Nintendo Entertainment System collection series. King Koopa (Bowser) has kidnapped the Mushroom Kingdom's princess Peach. The game is made up of 64 levels that exist in 8 worlds. There are 8 levels in each world. All of the enemies you know so well got their start here. Defeating them requires a simple jump on the head. On the last stage of each world you face Bowser on a rickety bridge. You must dodge his fire balls, run to the end of the bridge, and make him fall to his death in a pit of lava. The game holds up very well to this day. Graphically it has aged, but what can you expect from a game that is over 20 years old? Still, the colorful creative worlds filled with orange mushroom platforms, green hill, and flying fish are still nice to look at. The famous Mario Bros. tunes are here, and all of the famous sound effects that everyone knows. I personally didn't experience any sort of freezing, chopiness, or slow down in the game like some people said they had experienced. The game was $20 brand new when it came out, but I'm sure you can find the game new for $10 nowadays. Super Mario Bros. is a good old school platformer to have on the go.
