Chili Con Carnage is not your usual shooter game, but it's fun and entertaining nonetheless.

User Rating: 7.8 | Chili Con Carnage PSP
Chili Con Carnage is an intense, politically incorrect shooter game. You are almost always immediately immersed in massive gun battle sequences, where special movies give you points and enhance your abilities as you press your way through the very short, but fairly hard game. You play as Ram, a character with revenge on his mind, and two guns in his hands. The game is very setting based, and you frequently interact with the environment, which includes vehicles, mounted guns, and moving platforms. Each level is treated with humor while the action gets intenser as you progress. The game is fairly short, and each level feels like the same thing again and again. The basic routine is shoot, reload, and get power-ups, ammo, and upgrades. You go through a variety of scenes, from the docks to the underworld, to an odd mansion and army base type atmosphere. The sounds and graphics are nothing astounding, but they meet today's demands. The game can get hard if you don't get used to the frenetic pace that sets the tone of the game very early on. Load times are very good, and the value can be high, if you are willing to use the optional quests and challenges. Unfortunately, this game didn't pique my interest to want to try those options, nor did the multi-player seem interesting enough. The single player campaign is very entertaining and this is certainly a game worth renting. GRAPHICS: 7/10 (Nothing phenomenal here. Good cutscenes.)

SOUND: 6/10 (Dull and predictable music. Good gun-shot effects.)

CONTROLS: 8/10 (Only minor issues, but overall well laid out.)

DIFFICULTY: HARD (The action gets hairy if you don't act fast and use the environment.)

VALUE: 7/10 (Lot of replay options and challenges, plus a multiplayer. None of which I would use.)

LOAD TIMES: MEDIUM (Very decent loading times.)

OVERALL: 8/10 (Decent if not short shooter game with a few twists.)
