Better than expected.

User Rating: 8.5 | Championship Manager 2010 PC
Having abandoned the CM series after the old team left, I never thought I'd return to it. I bought this latest incarnation in an attempt to sate my need for all things Football Manager. It was cheap (only £15) and I figured it would at least provide some comedy value (I get a perverse pleasure for playing terrible games).

What I found however was a game that completely blew away my preconceptions. Now don't get me wrong, I am a die-hard Football Manager fan, but goodness knows that game can be unforgiving sometimes. What I found with CM2010 was a game that was incredibly easy to get into, pretty straightforward and above all, FUN. For all it's gritty realism, I think the folks at FM sometimes forget that a computer game is supposed to provide entertainment, not stress-related disorders. Yes CM has its flaws, but I take my hat off to the dev team who are very active on the forums and constantly listening to players and addressing issues. You feel like you're part of a continuing development (in a good way) and the monhtly patches/real-world stat updates are a stroke of genius. All in all, it's not a game for the management sim purist, but rather the casual player who wants to enjoy themselves and not be punished for doing so.
