An interesting game but not interesting enough to keep me playing now that Fable & Dungeon Siege II are out on PC.

I played fairly far into the CoN. I was going to say rent it first, but since I did rent it first, bought it, but still don’t like it enough to finish it I guess mixed reactions is more appropriate.

My biggest issue with the game is the camera angles. For me it was very difficult to attack in anyway because of the camera angles. This is on a fairly large TV set mind you not some 15inch monitor. If you’re far enough back to see what’s coming it was very difficult to see what direction you are facing. It never seemed like I was facing straight ahead but always on an angle and had to compensate for this which during boss battles can be very costly. When I zoomed in close enough to line up an attack properly I could not see all incoming enemies which could also be very costly since the AI had no problems surrounding you with enemies if you gave it the chance.

My next big issue is related to the 1st, attacking enemies. I liked the fact that you could block yourself into small spaces and do a ranged attack at will. But I did not feel good about enemies that basically committed suicide because of poor AI. I can understand one of those giant badgers trying to get at you while you shoot them at will there are dogs in real life that will do that. But I employed a similar strategy with one of bosses only I didn’t have to fire a shot I positioned my character in such a spot that fire balls from a catapult keep hitting him and not me. I also did not like how often you missed enemies with spells and arrows, especially since both had limits on them (arrows - the number you could carry and spells-the number of mana positions you could carry). If it was limitless then missing would not be a big deal but missing especially during a close quarter boss battle…. Very frustrating.

I did like the sound and music in that it was appropriate for the game. The graphics could get choppy but were good enough; in other words up to date but not cutting edge.

Again I did not finish the game which says a lot in itself. I found it a decent game but not nearly compelling enough to finish. What free time I do have, and it’s not much at this point, I will probably spend on Fable for the PC.
I like to utilize the now playing - review as you go - feature so if you have found my reviews interesting feel free to go there as I try out Fable during the Christmas 05 holiday season.

Happy Gaming.
