BIgger, better?........worse

User Rating: 5.5 | Chameleon Twist 2 N64
Chameleon twist 2 seems to make an attempt for improvement, but also leads to several more frustrations.

Story 4/10: The story is the same as the 1st game, you start as a chameleon just having a normal day when you decide to follow a bunny into a different world and you adventure begins. It suffers the same problems as last time: there is no reason why he called you, no reason for you to follow him, not much purpose to be there and the fact that its the exact same story makes it lose any orginality it had in the 1st place.

Gameplay 6 /10: The gameplay has slightly improved. Once again you run, jump from platform to platform, solve some puzzles and use your toungue for grabing poles, swallowing enimies and spitting them at foes, etc. 2 new elements appear. One is attached to you which is a parachute. It allows you to float and get carried by wind and can save you from a cheap death sometimes. The other item is a star you collect that has several power ups randomly determind by a slot. While some are good like running faster or spitting bigger enemies others are frustrating including a shorter tounge and walking really really slow. Even with some of the good items the controls can get difficult. The level design has significantly improved but also brought more problems. There are alot more gimmicks like roller coaster rides, spining platforms, minigame areas like being the hockey puck and getting into the goal but this increased the difficutly leading to so many falls and cheap deaths that you find yourself with a gameover. The best part of the game ( just like the 1st one) is the boss zone. At the end of each level youll find a boss to fight. These are suprisingly fun despite using the same machanics over and over. The bosses may be fun but with more frustrations than last time, it really isnt worth getting there.

Graphics 6.5/10: The game takes place around a fantasy world, from pyramids to carnivals to just plain up in the sky. With all the new platform gimmicks it does add more graphically with nice colorful objects and some nice 3-D eneimes. At some point however the creators just got lazy, many of the enemies are still have the look like 2-D paper drawn, the backronds are ok but in one level the backround just goes completly white for no reason. The worst of all is the new design for the chameleons. They lost the charm and humorous design that made them special to be replaced by a more realistic ugly look. With this said its not even as fun to look at.

If the 1st game is bad, the idea is to improve it in a sequal, but if this is the companies best effort..then a sequal wasnt needed in the 1st place.
