While this is a great multiplayer experience the single player is seriously lacking.

User Rating: 5.7 | Cel Damage GC
Cel Damage is a launch title for the Nintendo Gamecube. And while it looks and sounds good the gameplay is shallow and boring.

Basically, you play as one of a host of characters from a TV show. The show is focused around characters attacking eachother from inside their trademark vehicles. Kind of like Gladiators with guns.

so you choose a character, then you mus choose a mode. The modes are a standard battle, race and a capture the flag. Battle is just attacking each other and ammassing 500 points first. Race sees you travelling between two checkpoints and trying to complete the set number of laps first. capture the flag needs you to collect four flags and then return them to the base, easier sad then done when one hit makes you lose all flags.

These three modes don't stray much from the core gameplay of killing each other, and for this reason they ge tedious. Unfortunatley the core gameplay I referto isn't very inspiring. You basically drive around a themed world and find boxes, which hold weapons. These weapons are all OTT and include an Axe, missile, mines, harpoon gun etc. As well as standard guns each person has a signiture weapon, including a shrinking gun, tommy-gun, lawnmower etc. So, very shallow game.

There are a few unlockables. If you comlete EVERY mode with one character you unlock their weapon as a standard weapon (so everybody can get it) and you unlock a short "comedy" clip. Also, if you complete a single themed area COMPLETELY you will unlock it's character (these themes are Canyon, Jungle, Space, Horror).

Now, multiplayer. The main focus of this game seems to be the multiplayer. And it is a blast. Really, the shallow gameplay and lack of variation falls to nothing as you whiz around a course blowing the snot out of each other - Ace

Overall this is not a very appealing game. If you want a solid multiplayer experience then go for it, just don't expect to play it much once your mates have gone (the multiplayer and single player are EXACTLY the same).

Gameplay
Solid but not varied enough

Graphics
A nice cel-shading look really works

Sound
Some funny voice overs and catchy music

Value
Poor, once your mates have gone you wont play much
