An old game with a lot of appeal.

I remember 5 or 6 years ago when this game was free on the computer. You had to download an English patch for it just to play and the graphics weren't quite as smooth as they are now. Despite the time and looks changing its still the same game deep down inside. It was worth playing 5 years ago and its worth playing today.

Cave Story has old school controls that should be pretty easy to pick up and play. It can be unforgiving early on though. Spike traps litter the first level, forcing you to master the controls early on. There also isn't a tutorial explaining where to go and may lead to some confusion early on. But once you get past these problems Cave Story leads you on an interesting adventure with unique weapons and characters.

It wont take long to beat the game but you'll be drawn back to it as i was. Cave Story is for those who crave some challenge in the style of retro side scroller shooters.
