Expect to spend many hours trying to figure out how to play this cheap game designed to cash in on kids who love trucks.

User Rating: 2 | Caterpillar Construction Tycoon PC
More likely than not the only reason to purchase this game would be because there is a little kid in your gaming world who loves construction trucks. Unfortunately most kids, like my four year old, will be deeply disappointed with it, even while playing with an adult. Activision's only instructions included with the game are keyboard controls, which direct you on how to maneuver trucks when in a 1st person driving challenge. All other aspects of gameplay, which should normally be detailed in a Tycoon type game, are lacking. An extreme learning curve is required as you must figure out how to manage employees, use equipment, balance money, build structures, and complete scenarios. The controls appear generic and simple, some work and some don't, and your trial and error experiences will surely leave the little ones bored with the game. This is a cheap game that is not designed to offer hours of intense gameplay. The first clue is the intro music, which sounds canned and underproduced. The graphics are pretty standard, while the are really poor in the 1st person driving challenges. Speaking of which, I can see no reason why these challenges are included in the game. Accessible only in the scenarios, they have no effect on anything related to scenario completion. The scenarios themselves do seem interesting, but unfortunately with little instruction you will be hard pressed to find an unlimited amount of time to be able to figure out how to play them.

Overall, a very poor game that isn't worth playing.
