Best Castlevania EVER

Oh my... this is one of those games that I just want to go back to and keep playing. There is still some stuff that I haven’t picked up. Well... anyway... I will go into detail about what i like about this game...trying to be as critical as possible.

Gameplay - You play as Alucard (Draculas only son who’s mother is a Human) And you have a sword (instead of the infamous Vampire Killer whip of the Belmont clan) as well as armor, helmets, and trinkets that you pick up along the way. The game is like an RPG in the way that you level up your character. Alucard also has Familiars that help him fight (like a bat or an Imp) and they also level up. I don’t want to spoil anything...but there are several different endings that you can get. Let’s just say that the game is twice as longs as you might think it really is. Playing through the castle for the 1st time can be challenging....because some of the secrets (like the Jewel of Open) can be a little obscure, and you might get stuck in some other parts... But generally, the game is really easy. Most of the boss battles are really easy... but there are a few that will make you sweat... and a couple that will make you hit your head against the wall... if you don’t have the right items.

Graphics- Since this game is for the Playstation, it really isn’t up to our current standards of graphics. But for the system that it was made for, the graphics are actually pretty good. Its 2D Sprites for the most part with some 3D elements included. All of the backgrounds and foregrounds are drawn very well. The atmosphere of the castle is very ominous in some cases. All of the enemies look awesome, and it’s nice to see some former bosses in this game (from previous Castlevanias). The game just looks awesome.

Sound- This is my favorite part of the game. The soundtrack is just AWESOME! I highly recommend picking up the soundtrack if you ever see it. The sound design its self is also really good. Like Character screams and sword sounds. The only problem I can think of is the voice acting... though the Librarian is cool!

Value- This game has actually become very hard to find. Most people who own it aren’t willing to give it up. And if it ever does hit the store, it will be sold within a week... in most cases. It still is $20 in some cases though. Your best bet is to hit ebay... and also look for the soundtrack there ^_^ it’s called Castlevania X though.

Overall this is a great package. No only that, but there is also a bonus music track on the Castlevania SotN Playstation CD... just throw it in your CD player and play track 2. It’s Dracula Techno... or something...but fun to listen to. There are also some fun end game fearers and secrets. The game can really just keep on going. I highly recommend this game to anyone with a Playstation.
