"Masterpiece" this is the only word that can describe this title.
Graphic gets to height for 2d games in those years...the backrounds are gorgeous...a mix of gothic and dark structures...for whom loves vampire stories, this game is a godsend of heaven! animations of Alucard are fantastic...his cloak...his dress...remember me the ancient nobility :)
Sound can be described in 5 words: BEST SOUNDTRACK FOR A CONSOLE. I haven't ever heard a soundtrack like this! It transmit full of emotions...it is not ordinary, but magnificently arranged! There are classical tracks that will make happyness for many classical fans ^^
Gameplay touches on perfection...comands are simple and effective, easy to learn them. Each level is full of many items...in whole game, items are more than 100, fairly distribuited. Bosses have an important part of this game...they' re well characterized and their powers are peculiars for each ones.
The story is awesome: Alucard is a charismatic character...maybe the more charismatic fellow of this fantastic saga. He's half human and half vampire, but I think of telling well known things...so I don't expatiate about story, though I love it...
Reviewer's Tilt? 10, it can't be differently. Still now, to almost 9 years from his release, Castlevania SOTN remains the best game in the story for me....with super mario, sonic the hedgehog and zelda.
