Short but a sweet return to Castlevania.

User Rating: 8 | Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Reverie X360
After the events of LOS and after losing everything he ever loved, Gabriel finds himself stood atop of the cliff contemplating his fate after his "hollow" victory over the Lords of Shadow. That is until the voice of the little vampire child Laura enters his head pleading for help, this takes Gabriel back to the the Vampire Castle that Carmilla once ruled, now overrun now that its master is dead.

Reverie has been a long time coming and after delays and set backs and after the ending of LOS it has a lot to live up to. The DLC offers more puzzles and platforming as opposed to combat, although their arent to many combat sequences the game throws at you some of the more difficult opponents that you encountered in the game in the form of Skeletal Warriors and Swordmasters. The puzzles arent to difficult but more challenging than those found in the original game. The platforming sees Gabriel running across Leviathan infested waters and scaling a wall filled with blades which can be a little frustrating, Gabriel will also be collecting the of Fingers of Frankenstein and trials make a welcome return. By far one of the biggest disappointments of Reverie is the lack of a final boss fight, those who have played through the DLC will agree that the story leaves you expecting this to happen and when it doesnt it leaves the player seeking closure. The other disappointment is Reverie only offers 3 stages for this Chapter, which shouldnt take more than an hour and a half tops to run through the first time, achievement hunters will be looking at around 2-4 hours tops!

Overall Reverie offers a welcome return to the beloved series albeit a short one, but the lack of a final boss will leave fans wanting more, I would recommend Reverie to anyone who enjoyed LOS but I would be tempted to advise them to wait until this DLC is up on the dashboard at half price as 800msp doesnt seem fair considering how short Reverie is. But on the other hand dont let the length of this amazing DLC put you off, fans will love it and those seeking answers from the final cut scene of LOS wont be disappointed. Although I have played most Castlevania games I cannot claim to know all of the background story, but in my opinion the end of Reverie will be a topic of controversy for die hard fans.

One thing is for certain fans who finish Reverie will be left in suspense, eagerly awaitng the arrival of Resurrection to answer the remaining unanswered questions.
