Great atmosphere, story, and upgrades sold this game for me.

The atmosphere is my favorite attribute of this game. The atmosphere is dark, the sounds are eerie, and the artwork is amazing. It's not a side scroller, but I feel like I'm in the Castlevania world.

The story is very entertaining and fits nicely with the game as a whole. When you are playing the game through (especially the ending), remember that this is a rebirth of the series.

The upgrades you acquire fit nicely with the story and are both useful and fun. Using experience for new combat moves works well in combination with the upgrades.

The combat is good, not great, but it's fun.

Puzzles are entertaining and challenging without being ridiculously hard.

Overall, I highly recommend this game, if you love Castlevania. I was on the fence a few weeks, but I am very glad I picked it up. Lords of Shadow is very long game that I thoroughly enjoyed.
