Not exactly the best game, but still good nonetheless.

Admittedly this was actually the third game of the GBA series that I played. So my opinion is somewhat negative.

To start off the graphics wasn't at all cracked to be. This was because Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow was my second game played of the series. So I compared the graphics to both. Circle of the Moon had a nice clearness to its pixels even though it looked small. In Harmony of Dissonance, it looked completely pixelated. It doesn't look smooth or at least presentable.

Least to say that the music score was good in itself, nicely atmospheric to each region you visit. There's one problem, how it played out from the GBA speakers was atrocious. So much so that it was a very poor rendition for MIDI.

Gameplay is much the same as its predecessors. You use the whip, whack your enemies to a pulp, explore, collect items, use magic and advance spell are for later, armours and weapons upgrade, the whole hog. Though the game itself was no slouch either. Much of the monsters become far more harder as you delve deeper into Dracula's Castle. As for exploration, there's a nice added twist to it. You can actually explore the castle twice, side A known to be the first, side b being the same castle; but different, and harder monsters with a few variation of castle obstacles on both sides.

The story is good, with a plot twist. It does have different endings depending on certain criterias you meet.

In the end, the game wasn't as good as I expected but it still has good marks for being enjoyable.
