Excellent beat 'em up action with quirky humor and rich artwork.

This game is worth it for the local multiplayer co-op alone, which features up to four players and loveably insane and chaotic action. While unlockable characters are hit or miss, the four starting characters burst with personality. Each is a unique color with a unique magic style. Over time additional melee and magic attacks are poured on, making the bashing experience extremely rich and varied. In particular, as the increase in range and strength of magical attacks increase you'll begin to feel ten feet and bullet-proof at times, which is excellent, but don't think the game will become easy. Level difficulty ranges from easily passable to downright challenging, which somehow feels just about right at both points. Even when you're forced to repeat levels, you'll keep the experience you gained from playing it before, so that you don't feel like you're just running in place.
Anyone who appreciates side-scrolling beat 'em ups or multiplayer co-op games owes it to themselves to check out Castle Crashers, which is as fun with 1 or 2 players as it is with 4.
