Ultra fast, retina melting action that'll leave you begging for more!

I'm a diehard fan of Indie games, so to me this old skool shooter is instant gold. It's not the graphics or game play that make games like Caster so great but the addictive simplicity and ingenuity cunningly forged by low budget developers that give them a charm utterly irresistible.

Caster throws you into a world with no explanation or setting, and feeds you a sugary plot about bugs called the Flanx taking over. You play as a Caster, inherently some form of operative specialising in kick ass, who is sent in to deal with the Flanx and to revive the infected land.

Suddenly you find yourself flinging lasers at really aggressive bugs, determined to eat your ankles off. Caster offers a surprising array of weapons with which you combat the bugs. All specialised to take advantage of the 100% destructible landscape. You can also upgrade your weapons and character as the bugs become bigger and stronger.

The action is so sizzilingly fast and colourful you find yourself pausing for breathers while the electronica soundtrack pulses in your head. Enemies are varied enough to provide some interesting puzzle game play... as so it should in any good indie game.

The first download of the game included 16 action packed levels but the developer Elecorn announces future updates and content for free after the initial purchase. I could ramble on for ages about how this game far exceeds all my expectations but as its so cheap, I think I'll let you see for yourself.
