It's Castlevania....MARVEL STYLE!

User Rating: 3.5 | Captain America and the Avengers NES
So I emulated an NES about my favorite (dead) super hero Captain America. Tis awesome!

Story

As if you couldn't guess, the world is in danger and you must save it from generic super villains in generic super battles to save the world from super doom! Oh...and sorry ass Iron man got kidnapped along with the Scarlet Witch's baby daddy. Now CA and HE (Thats HAWKEYE AKA Legolas) must save the fools.

Gameplay

It feels VERY MUCH like castlevania. But unlike that game you dont have stiff controls. Basically you have a map of America (yeah right) and you can use Either Cap or Hawk in I think 15 or less/more ( I didn't bother to count) stages. The unique thing about this is that if you can make both characters come together, you can switch between them during a stage (making you work around the map to get this option has some rewarding results) Also if either of the two have fallen, the other can "rescue" him by completing the stage you got them killed in. Now for the map gimmicks out of the way, the actual game has you going through stages beating up badguys in every way imaginable, but there's a twist. In order to complete the stage you must find exit balls then find the exist. While this type of "find this and get out" type of gameplay is rather innovative for it's time, it's way too late to even consider being innovative on the NES considering this came out with the SNES version. Anywho the "fetch quest" gets annoying fast as this is what the whole game feels like. Nothing but "find this then exit" There's literally nothing else about the game besides doing this over and over again. The two characters you use in the game have enough individual aspects in themselves to make them stand out from each other and give you enough to try out both characters (and you'll need to). Dealing with enemies however is much harder than it should be. Enemies are usually set up in terrible positions like one behind a cliff or one that just runs at you when finally make it on a difficult platform. THe placement is god awful, but the terrible hit detection makes it worse. Punches and kicks almost fail at all costs but the shield and Bow make sort work of them. Which kinda sucks when you consider that both weapons have terrible recovery time and must make one pass before using again, which leaves you open for punishments from bosses. Speaking of which are the most dreaded parts of the game. Your character is as slow as a bat but these guys will run CIRCLES around you. Throwing fireballs at every corner , they over power you in every feet known to man. It sure doesn't help that they have near unlimited health (it takes FOREVER to kill the bastards and they're like ALL OVER THE WORLD!). There's also a nice rpg system where you can power up both Cap and Hawk to deal with some enemies and bosses but like all ideas on nes, this fails because you need to collect gems instead of actually kicking some ass. Gems take forever to collect so there's no reason to bother. The stages also look and feel the same. Hell they were recycled millions of times. But this was the NES and this type of crap you could expect.

Well I can;t say rent so this is pretty BAD.
