User Rating: 10 | Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 PS2
I got excited with a few games in the line-up. Some games I've played in the arcade, on home consoles, and some I've never played at all! but, Capcom has re-released these games for a very nice price and it would be CRIMINAL not to own BOTH Vol 1 and 2. So, here is a list of the games included in this vol:

1941: Counter Attack: see 1942. Really there is no difference at all between the two

Avengers: A HORRIBLE overhead-view, vertically scrolling beat em up that I did NOT get much enjoyment out of . I played it to the end AND there is no replayability to it what so ever. Not one of the collection's better moments.

Black Tiger: A game I played quite a few times in the arcade (along with Rygar since I feel the games are kinda similar) and it's pretty fun to upgrade armor and weapons as well. I'd say it is a favorite game in this collection.

Block Block: an breakout clone that I played a few times in this collection but, it can not touch a classic like Arkanoid! it's so-so at best.

Captain Commando: think Final Fight with super heroes. It is a colorful beat em up and a great game to play with friends.

Eco-Fighters: want a gem? then look no further than this ecology friendly horizontal, rotatating gun shooter. Most shooters have you saving some galaxy in space but, this one focuses on saving the Earth. It's a favorite of mine in this collection just for the simple fact that it looks great and is very unique.

King Of Dragons: I don't remember this game at all! but, it is not too bad as you get to take control of a warrior, cleric, dwarf, wizard, or elf. You'll uprgrade armor and weapons as you take on level after level of what seems to be the same enemies over and over. A very cool end fight though. It's worth a play through just for that.

Knights Of The Round: Again-now we're talking! I think of this game as a medieval Final Fight. You can take control of Arthur, Lancelot, or Perceval. It can be repetitve figuring you fight the same enemies over and over but, what really shines through in this game is the boss fights. Especially the boss fight with Shadow on a bluff overlooking the ocean. Yes, another favorite game of mine in this collection.

Last Duel: this game feels an intense racing game. I mean you can jump, shoot and you have an energy bar. Not much else that I know about this game but, it's the memory I have of it is it's pretty fun.

Magic Sword: YES! now this was a fun arcade game and how great it was on the Super Nintendo. A side scrolling adventure game where you go up many flights of stairs unlocking "sidekicks" whether it be a ogre, a thief, and yes even a ninja! have a secret item and you get the gargoyle which kicks butt. I love this game and it is one of my favorite games on this collection as well.

Mega Twins: A scrolling platform beat em up it was a very colorful entry in this collection and yet another game I haven't played before. I enjoyed the game and it is worth a try.

Quiz and Dragons: Capcom Quiz Game: A fighter, wizard, ninja, or amazon you take up a quest to defeat zombies, vampires, werewolves, and dragons. But, you must beat them by answering trivia questions. I had a blast with this game but, it's a little weird seeing a cool looking dragon and a little unsettling when the dragon asks what show was David Hasselhoff in where he drove a talking car named KITT? the answer is Knight Rider now DIE EVIL DRAGON! I spent alot of time playing this one and I like trivia type games so yeah, this is another favorite of mine!

Side Arms Hyper Dyne: now THIS is a classic. A time when robots were the order and shooters reigned supreme this game had it all. A transforming robot that turns into a ship and a variety of weapons (gimme the 3 way!) I love everything about this game from the graphics, music, and gameplay. Without question a top favorite game as I still enjoy and will always enjoy playing this game. Ah, memories! I played this in the arcade and when I played it in this collection I couldn't help but feel emotional about the experience.

Street Fighter: the beginning of a legend. Although it is no Street Fighter II it is still important game in the series since this is where it was all started and we were introduced to the fighters that would change the genre forever.

Strider: the game is a work of art. The series is excellent. I was hoping again for the NES version but, instead I got the very superior arcade version though I played this game more on the Sega Genesis. The game is beautiful and so is the soundtrack. I'll never forget when I reached the snowy hill and running down that hill and somersaulting to the other side. it was just a kick butt moment. Also, the mechanical gorilla and the zero g level where you're floating around trying to hit the generator. Also who could forget that catepillar boss in the beginning? this game don't be fooled was a pretty good challenge and has always been one of my favorite games and I am so glad it made it to the collection. Strider Hiryu is an awesome character and his hawk and panther powerups are pretty cool too.

Super Street Fighter II: Enter T. Hawk, Cammy, Dee Jay and Fei Long (my favorite new character) I actually found this game one day while I was working in the video rental dept. I actually saw it in a box and I was like WHOA! I straight up asked if I could just go ahead and buy it (why waste time it's new and it's here now so let's do it lol) but, they said no it was for rent only. But, at least I got the first shot with it which was cool. I practically owned the game and debated on bringing it back but, in the end I knew I had to share the wealth (I was in Germany at the time and American releases were RARE at the time) but, it is a great game and it is one of my favorite games on here.

The Speed Rumbler: I honestly have no memory of this game. Sorry folks! from what I DO remember is it's kind of a mad max type shooting game involving a vehicle and that's about all I remember.

Three Wonders: Now, how is THIS for value? you get Midnight Wanderers which is like playing Mega Man complete with cool boss fights and it is co-op. Then you get Chariot which plays alot like Gradius using the same characters and then finally you get Don't Pull which plays alot like Pengo. You are getting 3 games in 1 in a collection of games! yes, this game is awesome and it is one of my favorites.

Tiger Road: You're kung-fu is not too weak as you'll be using the tiger technique to defeat the warriors of the dragon god. It's a side scrolling beat em up with nifty boss fights.

Varth: Operation Thunderstorm: A pretty cool shooter that lets you choose a character/plane type. It borrows from 1942 and it also didn't make it's way to consoles for a long time. I'd say it is pretty fun as a shooter with a not-to-bad story. I'd say it's a great game and alot better than some of the games in this collection.

I love this collection despite a few titles that weren't all that great. It's the good games that make up for this and it is a good thing they were included because some these game are horrible. I am still waiting patiently for Vol. 3 and I hope I see it released for the PS3. I know Capcom has more gems for all of us to play. Hopefully, Capcom will take a cue from Sega (as they have released Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for the PS3 and XBOX 360) until then as I have said: I shall be patiently waiting for the next installment.
