It's a nice distraction and relives some fond memories but the short campaign and basic multiplayer isn't worth $15.

User Rating: 7.5 | Call of Duty Classic X360
Call of Duty Classic was available originally only for Hardened or Prestige Modern Warfare 2 buyers with a code. Now, since Dec 4th, it is now able to buy for everyone on Xbox Live Arcade. Originally released in 2003 and won dozens of awards for innovation and graphics. This was Infinity Wards' first game and made a bright future soon to come. Now however, does this game still stand the test of time?

The game play is the same as ever. This time there are a couple of differences. Now there is a health bar and it can only be restored by collecting health packs throughout the map. The amount of health packs are relative to the difficulty. For instance Greenhorn (aka recruit) has health littered everywhere. On the other hand, Veteran has a very scarce amount of health. Since there is no regenerating health personally I think this is the hardest of all Call of Duties.

The game is broken into three soldiers for American, British, and Russian campaigns. It is a very short single player mode overall. Although the explosions and effects were revolutionary at the time, now it is very blasé. Overall it's pretty average and isn't much to come back to after beating.

The multiplayer is very basic and has 6 modes from basic ones like Team Deathmatch or survival like mode call Behind Enemy Lines. The maximum of players is only 8 however which leads to some pretty boring battles. There are only 5 classes to choose from which leads to all players being equal, which may seem bad for some but good for others. In my opinion, I found it to get boring quickly and got tired soon. After playing multiplayer for a bit I found myself going back to Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer.

The sound effects are the same as they were in 2003. Music is plain and doesn't really affect the emotion very much due to today's standards being increased dramatically. However times come, such as shellshock, which still hold up to today.

The screen has been refit for widescreen format enabled which is a nice feature. However there is no brightness setting along with many other settings. The brightness is one flaw in it due to the game being extremely dark at times. Even sometimes where I can't see where im going even if I'm right next to the screen. I had to turn my TV setting as high as possible.

Overall it is a nice distraction and relives some fond memories of the original game. Though it was very well received 6 years ago, it doesn't hold up well. The multiplayer is basic and the single player mode is short and has no reason to go back to. For 1200 points you can do way better on Xbox Live Arcade.
