A welcome break from those marathon runs of MW2

User Rating: 8 | Call of Duty Classic X360
First the good: decent graphics for a last gen title. Solid gameplay, good story with familiar faces and names. Live multiplayer. awesome drive by nazi shooting segments.
Now the bad: Inconsistent mission durations (some are long and drawn out while others are like five- ten minutes long). Finicky controls translated as well they could from PC version, hard to get into a good game online, eight players only.
Now the review. If you've been playing Modern Warfare2 and your thumbs are a little tired and eyes a little singed well head on over to COD classic for some good old fashioned Nazi killing. The single player campaign remains the classic that it was and definitvely showcases that brand of gameplay that InfinityWard helped define. When playing you begin to see parallels to Modern Warfare and Call of Duty 2 that you may not have seen before. There is a Price and a Foley as well as other familiar names among the rank and file. The getaway sequence where you fight off Nazi trucks from the rear of a truck driven by the WW2 captain Price uncannily echoes the end sequence ride from Modern Warfare1. There is also the token prison break sequence. All in all the campaign is a great arcadey change of pace from Modern Warfare2's visceral adrenaline pumping firefights both online and off.
Multiplayer is a blast if you can find a good full game but with eight players only and a seeming lack of online participants it seems a bit nuetured. I hope this will change but for now I wouldn't chuck down the cash for just that one aspect of the game. Server support seems solid though but that as always depends on your connection/router configuration.
If you're a COD fan and want to relive the original or if you've never played it then it's a worthy purchase that will serve as an excellent break from it's baby brother Modern Warfare2. For others it's a good taste of the engine that made COD the awesome franchise that it is today. Highly recommended.
