A Good Game spoiled by a campaign that feels more like a remake

User Rating: 8 | Call of Duty: WWII XONE

While the game gets points for trying to emulate war films like Band of Brothers, a return to the Second World War after the World War II in Space escapade of Infante Warfare, and the improved graphics engine. The main problem is once again the setting is pretty much been done to death in other games: D-Day, a mission or two in Normandy, Charge across France, Aachen, Hurtgen Forest, The Bulge blah blah blah we've all been here before. For a game that was boasting about a new take on the World War II genre the main campaign feels more like a remake of Call of Duty 2: The Big Red One, right down to the player squad being members of the 1st Infantry, just cutting out the North Africa and Italian portions and skipping right to the D-Day to Berlin Part, and while that's not necessarily bad, it's just been done so many times, and we've all played the D-Day to Berlin campaign so much that many of us can probably qualify as World War II Veterans. With the success of Battlefield 1's World War I setting here's hoping CoD makes the transition to World War I as well, or at the very least the Italian, Eastern or Pacific Fronts of World War II just for a change
