It's another COD. It's more of the same and went in the direction of obnoxious players, but still fun nonetheless.
I very much enjoyed the campaign, but I found it easier than the previous call of duties. To me the campaign served as a big 'tutorial room' on how to use some of the new guns. I enjoyed the game's story and was pleased with the ending. You will finish this campaign pretty quick.
Multiplayer; the reason we buy Call of Duty
The Good
The control algorythm feels great, just like in MW2, so I couldn't be happier. I am very pleased that they included higher bullet damage seeing as I don't believe you should be able to get away from accurate bullets.
Perks are pretty balanced for the most part, there are a heftier amount of Assassin users, but not as bad as it could be. Stalker is an amazing new perk that enables faster ADS walking speed - this will make you VERY advantageous!
Prestige shop is really cool, and actually rewards you for prestiging!
The Bad
Maps are more cluttered than ever, which is possibly due to people crying about campers (which weren't that hard to get around or kill). Once upon a time there was a playstyle called 'defense', and defense was really fun to play while using a sniper riflr, LMG, or maybe an ACOG'd assault rifle, then came the riff raff that is now post COD: WaW's COD community; it was "Camper this and camper that." And so IW decided to make a game that catered to the obnoxious run n' gun crowd by making maps harder to have long line of sights or to snipe on altogether.
The spawns are absolutley atrocious! But then again it is relatively new, so maybe we'll see a patch sometime in the future.
Claymores and bouncing betties do NOT replinish via scavenger, so it's harder to ensure your back is covered when your sniping. It also doesn't help that Stalker Pro and SitRep both help you to avoid these traps.
Overall: I hope they release maps with open areas and maybe bring back some good ones from MW2 or COD4. I gave it an 8.0 even though my review sounded worse than an 8.0, because COD still to this day is the most fluid feeling shooter to date, and not shooter has come close to feeling as sexy as the COD series. When a game finally comes out that has the same control feel, then maybe just then... Call of Duty will be dethroned.
MW3 is a fun game, but you will be immensly angered by a lot of the BS that the riff raff as shaped IW to implement.
