Most unmemorable and unambitious COD title to date

User Rating: 3 | Call of Duty: Ghosts PC

Which says a lot compared to rest of the games of COD Series.

The Good:

Space Missions and Underwater missions are a nice change of pace and bring a certain uniqueness. But unfortunately no effort has been made to make them available as multiplayer maps.

The Bad:

Pathetic excuse for a campaign story: It's only 4 hours long and at no point does it even try to be an engaging one. Now I'm not expecting a deep storyline enriched with lore, questioning morals and expanding perspectives but I do expect a decent story with decent characters that at least reaches the standards of an everyday military shooter game. Astonishingly it manages to bring the bar even lower. It has a very generic plotline with characters that has the personality of a cardboard, and a few moments that desperately tries to look dramatic but you'll forget by next morning.

Baby steps gameplay: As with most modern COD titles, the campaign gives absolutely no freedom to the player. I'm not talking about just the linear mission design but they literary say when should you shoot, which enemy to shoot and even when should you crouch. I get that they are trying to be realistic but it gets really old and annoying really fast.

Technical Issues: In PC version, I encountered audio shuttering during cutscenes unless the game is in windowed mode. Also it suffers from screen tearing which can only be fixed by raising the graphic options which in turn causes lag at certain points. My PC Rig is able to play the most graphically demanding modern games with their highest graphics features enabled, so having lag in a game that looks like it's made in 2007 is mind boggling.

Multiplayer and other Modes: There's absolutely nothing to talk about them. At this point it's not even a recycle but trying digest a rotten egg.

Conclusion:

In general, Call of Duty series is considered recycling the same material each year without much improvement, but this particular title brings that notion to a whole new level. It's clear that they have put next to no effort to create an engaging nor memorable game and are hounding the same dying formula; to the point the title "Ghosts" actually suits this game. Whether you are fan of first person shooter or a fan of Call of Duty itself, this is one game I highly recommend NOT buying as it's a waste of money and time. In short, this is one Ghost that should be left in its grave.
