The hype surrounding Call of Duty Black ops was rather ample in size, however as i played the game it did seem like i had played it before. Firstly the graphics and sound are very good even if people do say they are not up to scratch with Modern Warfare 2. Next is the story which is well written and includes a plot twist that i did not see coming until the end of a later level. The story is set out in a series of flashbacks as the main character is being tortured and under harsh questions, the levels then play out as Mason (main character) remembers and relives the memories of his past. This is well set out but has being used before in the form of Assassin's Creed, however does work out well. This brings me on to the game play in the story mode which is good and is mostly the same as previous titles with frantic fast paced action when the bullets fly and explosions go off all around, this is also to say about the online mode gameplay that is addictive and does contain a new addition to the online world. The addition of the online credits mode where players unlock weapons that then have to be paid for by an in game currency that is earned by playing online matches. Also with the addition of this currency, a couple more online game modes are added by the name of Wager matches, each consisting of there own rules but mostly consist of the player putting his own 'money' on the line to either lose or win more off other players. This does work well and the game modes are addictive to play and are rather rewarding when more currency is earned. The selection of perks and equipment are customisable by the player in a loadout. The weapons that are available to pick from are new and old but show a good range of weaponry across the board for anyone. The last element to this game to mention is zombie mode. This is available to play online, offline and split screen, it is more enjoyable then ever. It is rather good and can be addictive when playing online with friends. All in all Call of duty is an enjoyable game but does show some repetitive action that is seen in previous Call of duty titles.
