Hmmm, interesting...

Well, well. I just had to buy this one just out of curiosity to see if the PS Vita version holds up. For the most part, it does. I was however, taken aback at the beginning because the game seemed to small, only 2.2 GB or something, my fears were confirmed.

Anyways it's day 2 and there is already a 369 MB patch, which includes some multiplayer re-balancing and adding of the ad hoc mode, which is pretty neat, however your multiplayer stats will not be updated to your multiplayer profile while playing ad hoc.

Anyways, there are three modes, campaign, hostiles and the multiplayer.

What I liked most about the Campaign (if you can call it that) is that you get there are no checkpoints and that THERE ARE NO RE-SPAWNING ENEMIES, which is saying a lot for a COD game. The Campaign comprises 10 missions which take only about 5-10 minute minutes to beat. Every missions takes place in a different area and year and you either play as Mason or Woods.

Half the AI stand there and the other half take cover and throw grenades on occasion. They almost never change their cover unlike in Killzone (I hope that next KZ: Mercenary keeps the outstanding AI). You WILL die on Veteran a lot though. And do not expect to see any grandiose chases or huge cinematics here.

The Hostiles mode comprises 5 missions where you have to survive waves of enemies. I think this could have easily been co-op. You get limited amount of ammo and you survive mostly by scavenging for it ( from slain enemies ) and by using other defensive weapons like the minigun, airstrikes, etc. Interestingly enough, there is no auto-aim in this mode for some reason.

The multiplayer is your classic COD online experience with 6 maps and several game modes which incorporates 12 perks, weapons, upgrades, kill streak bonuses, etc. It's interesting that there is nukehouse map, which is basically your nuketown map only with one house, it sucks though because it's just slaughter and there is barely any tactics involved.

The cons:

-You still can't see your legs;
-You cast no shadow;
-You can't turn off music (meaning you will end up hearing slight rock and banging music in the background, but not as often)
-You can't turn off dialogue (meaning every time you die and restart a single player mission you will hear the same dialogue over and over again);
-The graphics are kind of bland (but not as bland and boring as in Resistance Burning skies);
-The game costs $ 50 instead of your usual $ 40;
-The kill streaks get activated by pressing the left side of the screen that will happen accidentally A LOT, which will prevent you from firing for a second - resulting in you getting shot;
-the knifing is only done by tapping the screen which prevents you from using your right analog stick for a second or two thus decreasing your mobility;
-The Ad Hoc mode does not update your general stats for some stupid reason
-Only 6 multiplayer maps

The pros:

+fast and smooth frame-rate (seriously, it feels like you are playing at 60 FPS);
+insane auto-aim. (I guess I should put this in the pros category since playing Resistance: BS with its limited auto-aim in Single and Multi-player made me nuts on many occasions);
+the enemies look okay and human enough;
+there is a prone option
+COD Multiplayer on-the-go which I actually found pretty addicting

So little effort was put into single player that this game is pretty much about multiplayer experience. In the end though, I feel like this is a decent enough COD experiment on the PS Vita. For some reason, I just want to call this game an "experiment".
