Great game enjoyable

User Rating: 8 | Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (Day Zero Edition) PC

I've played multiplayer for at least 40 hours, plus watched my kids play 40+ hours.

Summary for those who don't like to read:

Gameplay: 9.5 (seriously, it is a blast)

Graphics: 7 (bland maps graphics imo, too generic, resolution is great)

Customization: 10 (player appearance, pick 13, even scorestreaks can be customized)

Map Design: 8 (enjoy most of the maps, some dynamic events)

Bullet Hit/Miss weirdness: 10 (Ghosts would get a 1 for comparison)

Multiplayer lag: 8 (great in most cases, crappy in some, Ghosts would get a 3)

Campaign: haven't played enough to vote

Co-op: haven't played enough to vote

Care Packages: 4

Some background on me: I've been playing CoD since CoD2. I've finished almost all the campaigns on Veteran and have put countless hours into multiplayer (like 1000's of hours). I've never been a great player online, mostly due to medoicre internet and being middle-aged. I reviewed Ghosts and gave it a 4, only because I had some fun with the Alien stuff with friends. Otherwise I would've given it a 2.

I haven't had this much fun online since ... god... MW2? MW1 even?

The guns have almost no kick. Some definitely have more than others. There is no compensation for crappy aim (like mine). Either you put your sights on target or you'll miss, end of story. This means you have to have skill or smarts to get kills. This is exactly the way a multiplayer shooter should be.

MOST (not all) of the crappy BS that went along with ghosts multiplayer is gone. There are still matches where you can't understand why you can't kill anyone, and there are matches where you destroy everything inexplicably. But for the most part, you understand why you die, and it isn't a bleeping mystery. You have time to react.

The guns are fun, and have good variety, even if they are your typical fare (except for the laser beam). The exo suit really adds a new dimension to the game, though if you've played Titanfall, it's not a big adjustment. Just gotta watch out for those guys who can actually dodge. =)

I'd say the biggest downer about the game is it doesn't really feel like it has a "soul". This is really hard to explain other than to say it feels like "Generic Shooter Number 9". Still, the gameplay more than makes up for it and I'm having a TON of fun.
