A Dark Unfriendly Adventure.

User Rating: 7.5 | Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth XBOX
"Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth" is a 'First Person Action Adventure' game released onto XBOX in 2005. The game was developed and published by 'Bethasda Softworks' and '2KGames'. This title is also based on "H.P Lovecraft's" 1931 horror novel "The Shadow Over Innsworth".. Lovecraft was an unusual authur due to the fact that he had a reputation for torturing his lead characters mentally.
The story of the game centres around 'Jack Walters', a private detective investigating the disapperance of 'Brian Burnham', a clerk who's now under suspiction of robbing his own store located within the abandoned fishing town of 'Innsworth'.
Throughout the game you will slowly unravel the puzzles concerning Brian Burnham, plus you will also discover the unfriendly secrets of Innsworth, whilst uncovering uncomfortable facts about Jacks forgotton schizophrenic past.
The gameplay throughout this title is quite unique. There are only a few weapons scattered throughout the entire game as this title relys mainly on stealth. And unlike most other 'First Person' games the main character does'nt rely on 'On Screen' health meters. Instead, your able to determin the state of the main character's health (Sanity) through his vision; and by listening to his voice and his heart beat.
Personally speaking, this game does have a couple of bad points..The graphics should look sharper for XBOX, whilst gameplay can get frustrating at times. But if you are seeking an interesting and unique story that is based on one of "H.P Lovecraft's" novels then "Call Of Cthulhu: Dark Corners Of The Earth" may just be for you.
