This was part of Epyx' games series. Thee were games like summergames, wintergames and worldgames and now California games. The summer and winter games were about the olympics and so the goal of the world and California games was also to get as many gold medals on a number of different events. It was fun to compete with friends. Also the gamesseries never was very serious. There is fun in loosing as well as winning. In the California games you compete in typical Californian sports like skateboarding, foot bag (doing tricks with a small ball), surfing, rollerskating, frisbeeing and bmx crossing. You can play with up to 8 players. You don't pick a country like with the other games, but you pick a sponsor. Personally i prefer competing for a country, but it's California games. All the events require a sense of timing and practice. It's fun to win from your friends. The game is from the late 80's and so are the graphics ans sounds, so don't expect to much from this. The game today is still fun to play, especially because there just aren't any games like this one. A game like this would be perfect for a console like the nintendo Wii.
