The phrase "not worth it" comes to mind.

Cal Ripken Jr. Baseball is not at all a bad game. It's just an incredibly pointless game to buy. The SNES may not be known for it's great baseball games, but it definetley has better than this. "Cal Ripken Jr." features two main modes. Exhibition and Season. In Exhibition, you can go VS. the comp or another human player. Obviously, it's alot more fun with another dude, but not by much. There's not really a whole lot of gameplay elements in "Cal Ripken". You press B to throw the ball and the pitcher throws it. It never offers you the choice to throw a fast ball, or curve, or what speed you want to throw it. Hitting isn't anymore of a thrill. You move your little guy, who tends to feature a silly name (Billy Fingers), pick your position, and press B to smack the ball. Then he'll go and run to first base, and if you think you can make it, you can press the command button and make him go for second. Yeah, thrilling stuff.

The graphics are really not fun to look at in this game. Major lost points there. The textures are horrible, just a giant green field and a diamon, pretty lame. The players don't look to hot either, up close or otherwise. The sound is bad, but almost in a good way. When you get a homer for instance, your gonna hear some pretty epic music. The replay value just isn't there, as this is a game you won't feel the need to pick up very often.

Overall, I refuse to think of "Cal Ripken Jr. Baseball" as a bad game. It's just one that, when put up against the competition, is not needed at all.
