An excellent title from Impressions' outstanding series of city building games

User Rating: 8.5 | Caesar III PC
Caesar 3 is a challenging game which will have you fixated on your screen while you juggle a dozen different elements of your thriving city.

Caesar himself will demand tributes and deliveries from you during these missions, and along with natural catastrophes (earthquakes) and invasions, each mission is guaranteed to keep you on your toes until the final few months of your reign.

Some missions are quite difficult, which is a good thing, because too few games nowadays give gamers credit enough for being able to conquer challenging scenarios.
The game play and the recurring feeling of achievement and pride you will get by creating an efficient infrastructure will drive you on in your quest to build the best city you possibly can.

Inevitably, you will find yourself running out of room to build as your city grows and grows, but this will all stand you in good stead for future missions and the critical period at the start of each mission when you must decide where to house your first settlers, construct trade central, and branch out from there as more and more people come to your city...therefore forcing you to produce more food and other items.

Years ago when this game was released i was smitten and made it my mission to complete the game. I was young then and took all the missions involving war and conflict (you get a choice eventually as to whether you want to concentrate on building a thriving city with high expectations, or a city which doesn't have so many demands but is threatened by foes).

Now that i am older i'm going through it again, this time concentrating on the missions which demand that my cities are prosperous.

I get the same deep immersion from Caesar 3 that i got years ago, i'm enjoying it immensely, and once again - when i take a 5 minute break to get a coffee - it takes me a minute or two to start juggling each aspect of my city effectively again.

Anyone who loves city building games should reach into your bargain bin and grab this title because it's one of the best.

The music is terrific and it's very fulfilling to see your bustling citizens going about their business.

So if you try this gem and get half the enjoyment i have, chances are that Impressions' next title in this series, 'Pharaoh', will be next on your list !

And it won't disappoint ;)
